Sport Psychology in the Elite Athlete Environment
This course presents the science of sport psychology in the elite-athlete environment across four integrated units. It is built on a central philosophy: developing an athlete is no longer a purely physical task but a holistic process weaving together physical, cognitive and psycho-social dimensions, with the coach at its heart as a leader, educator and manager of a network of relationships. The units progress logically from the institutional environment around the coach, to the social environment around the athlete (family and peers), then to the tool that links them (communication), and finally to the field where every element is realized (competition and training). Each unit blends referenced theory, real-world examples, and short formative assessments.
