Introduction to Team Fundamentals
As a coach, specially as you start coaching in the Specialization and Performance stage, you must have a clear idea on how you want your team to play, based on the club’s identity and game model. In this course you will learn the difference between playing using game principles or playing with closed game solutions. As a coach it is very important to know the differences, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each type of tactical solution, in order to obtain the maximum performance for my team. In this introductory course, you will learn the difference between the four phases of the game (Attack, Defense, Offensive Transition, Defensive Transition). Then, we focus on the offensive phase, and more specifically the positional offensive phase, explaining the concepts of depth and width, and why they are so important to ensure a good attacking phase. You will also learn about the concept of diagonal positioning and explore the idea of “system vs system” when preparing your matches. Finally, we will focus on how to structure your team during the attacking phase to prepare them for an eventual turnover.
